I have been a keen photographer for many years and changed from film to digital in 2004. By profession I am a professor of geography at the University of Bergen, Norway, and as a photographer I benefit from my professional interests in cultural landscapes, nature management, biogeography, and other related fields.

Vision

Many years of experience have taught me a lot about nature, ecosystems, the impact of man, human decisions that have devastative impact on landscapes and nature, and wise decisions that have positive impacts. Consequently, I never cease to be amazed by the huge diversity of species, forms, types, varieties, patterns, processes, colours, lights, smells, sounds, and atmospheres in natural and cultural landscapes. Through my pictures I hope to stimulate the interest in, awareness, and knowledge of, and respect for the diversity of life and landscapes.
